Safety and hygiene are of the utmost importance in the food industry.
Suppose that a blood-stained plaster is found in your yoghurt container, or in your soup at a restaurant, in the minced meat at the butcher’s or in the bread at the baker’s. This must be prevented at all times to guarantee food safety.
European directives apply to this, and there are various quality systems, such as HACCP, IFS and BRC.
All companies involved in the preparation, processing, treatment, packaging, distribution and transport of foodstuffs must have first aid materials that comply with these standards. Detectaplast® offers a complete range of detectable first aid products that comply with these strict but necessary standards.
HACCP, the acronym for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, is a risk assessment system for food safety. This means: hazard analysis and critical control points.
HACCP is not a tangible manual of instructions, but rather a system based on seven principles. Companies must apply this system to their own situation. Each company states where and at what stage of the production and/or distribution processes risks to the health of consumers could arise. It also sets out what measures are to be taken to prevent threats to consumer health, what checks are to be carried out and what the results are.
German retailers have developed a certification standard that corresponds in many respects to the British BRC standard: the IFS (International Food Standard). French retailers have also adopted the IFS standard. The Italian retail associations Ancc, Ancd and Federdistribuzione also support the IFS standard.
In 1998, UK retailers developed a common industry standard. BRC stands for British Retail Consortium, the association of British retail organisations. The BRC standard describes the hygiene and food safety requirements for food processing businesses that supply the retail sector directly.
The BRC has similarities to and interfaces with the HACCP. For example, the BRC also requires a risk analysis in accordance with the HACCP and the critical points for food safety (CCPs) must be demonstrably guaranteed throughout the production process. However, the BRC requires more in the area of hygiene and construction aspects. An HACCP certified company has to arrange and screen additional matters.
All Detectaplast® detectable blue plasters meet the HACCP, IFS and BRC standards and have been specially designed not to enter the food cycle. How does this work?
Can be made from washproof PE, washproof and elastic PU, 2nd skin film or elastic textile material. The blue colour ensures that they are detected quickly if they do come loose.
Thanks to the very strong hypo-allergenic adhesive with little chance of an allergic reaction, they stay in place in difficult working conditions, such as in the food industry and industrial kitchens.
Ensures that they can be removed from the production process by metal detectors.
Makes them visible to X-ray detectors in case metal detectors cannot be used (for example, for food packaged in aluminium foil).
Prevents the wound pad from sticking to the wound.
Protects against dirt and dust.
Detectaplast® offers a complete range of plasters, each with their different properties and applications.
The Detectaplast ® Universal plasters are water repellent and contamination resistant, made from strong PE (polyethylene) material.
The Detectaplast ® 2nd skin plasters are water repellent, contamination resistant and elastic, made from thin PU (polyurethane) material. The PU film is thinner than the Premium plasters and feels like a 2nd skin. This makes it even more comfortable to wear. On the one hand, the PU film allows the skin to breathe, which is very important for proper wound healing. In addition, this also prevents the skin from becoming moist under the plaster, which would allow the plaster to loosen more quickly. On the other hand, the PU film also protects the wound against water, dirt, bacteria and viruses.
The Detectaplast ® Hydrogel plaster is suitable for small 1st and 2nd-degree abrasions and burns as well as for chronic wounds that do not heal well. The sterile hydrogel contains 60% water, has a slight cooling effect and reduces pain. The plaster creates a moist wound environment for faster healing. The PU film allows the wound to breathe and obstructs bacteria. Not suitable for highly exuding wounds given its limited absorption capacity.
The Detectaplast ® Premium plasters are water repellent, contamination resistant and elastic, made from strong PU (polyurethane) material. The PU film allows the skin to breathe, which is very important for proper wound healing. In addition, this also prevents the skin from becoming moist under the plaster, which would allow the plaster to loosen more quickly. On the other hand, the PU film also protects the wound against water, dirt, bacteria and viruses.
The Detectaplast ® Elastic plasters are flexible, made from an elastic textile material. These plasters are very comfortable and suitable for mobile body parts.
In addition to various qualities of plasters, each with its own specific application, Detectaplast® also has plasters in varying sizes in its range to provide the best care possible for any place on the body.
In addition to the classic dimensions, we have long finger plasters (12 cm and 18 cm long) suited for good fixation around the joints of fingers. The knuckle plasters are specially designed in an H shape for comfortable protection of the knuckle. The butterfly plasters are designed to cover a wound on the fingertip. Finally, there are also plasters on a roll, which is available in a dispenser that makes it easy to cut plasters to fit.
