This kit includes Hydrogel and several burn pads containing water-soluble water-based gel (hydrogel) that draws heat from a burn while relieving pain, cooling the skin and protecting it from airborne contamination. Applying Detectaplast Burn Care Gel as soon as possible draws heat away from the burn and prevents heat from penetrating deeper into the skin. The gel is 90% purified water and has the same cooling effect as water, but because it is thick, it stays on the burn and evaporates very slowly. Detectaplast Burn Care Gel is completely soluble in water. Residual Burn Care Gel on a burn is removed on contact with water. Detectaplast Burn Care Gel is sterile by Gamma and has a shelf life of five years.
