Why and when are plasters with detectable metal to be used?

Companies in which food is processed and packaged in large quantities are required to meet the HACCP standard. In the food industry, metal is one of the most common contaminants in food. Metal can be introduced at all stages of food processing, as it is most commonly used in the construction of machinery, handling equipment and ancillary supplies. For packaged products, a metal detector is placed at the end of the packaging line to inspect the closed end package. For this purpose, all Detectaplast® detectable plasters contain 5g/m² aluminium foil between the wound pad and the outer plaster material. This aluminium foil ensures that if a plaster should end up in food, it is automatically detected by the metal detector and can be removed immediately.
